Mid Term Report - Season 2011-12

You will have heard of a game of two halves, this is turning into a season of two halves. After a pleasing pre-season in both performances and results the first game of the season brought a setback and a pattern of the coming months. Away at Handsworth we had three gilt edged chances but failed to capitalise and then conceded a poor goal to lose the game 1-0, our form continued in this way meaning we had a frustrating start to the season. During this time we had quite a high turnover of players which meant that the side changed often and never really settled making it difficult to find any real form, the lowest point coming in the shape of a 7-1 defeat away to Worksop Parramore in which two players saw red cards.

After this, the squad, form and results all improved. The average age of the squad increased which helped with two new signings of Liam Morris and James Cook and we started to come together as a team. Prior to Christmas the only defeats suffered were against sides striving for promotion and despite a tiny blip over the Christmas period we have now really found our stride with thee successive wins the last being a fine 2-1 win away to title favourites Glasshoughton Welfare bringing about a pleasing double over them and giving us a real chance of a top six finish which I think would be a fantastic achievement.

There is a fantastic atmosphere in the dressing room and a very positive squad of players who work extremely hard for each other and are playing a brand of football far better than any other team I have seen in the in the league. In the remaining 11 games 8 of the fixtures are against teams lower in the league than us so we have a real chance to finish on a high.
