An evening when Hallam blooded some of their young guns ended in a 5-0 victory which assures the Countrymen of ending the season on Saturday with a points total in excess of last season.
Having said this they did not have it all their own way and Askern , struggling at the wrong end of the table, matched Hallam for the first twenty minutes. The break through came in the unlikely figure of Rob Adgie finding himself inside the box and finishing like an accomplished striker. Further goals from Aaron Moxom and an absolute peach from Danny Deakin meant the Countrymen went in with a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second period it was all Hallam creating chance after chance however the Askern keeper was in amazing form and deserved a great deal of credit for keeping the score respectable. An Adam Carter strike on 60 minutes and a superb header at the back post by defender Steve Wankiewicz on 70 minutes made it five on the night,
The Countrymen travel to Yorkshire Amateur on Saturday for the last game of the season.
