Hallam Fishing for Points
0Posted 04th September 2013 - Posted in Match Reports
After losing three games by the odd goal it was vital for the Countrymen to turn the tide on their visitors from Grimsby.
They did not start well and found themselves behind again within the first five minutes however they responded in a positive manner and started to find their stride.
Brad Samson playing the lone striker role went close with a couple of efforts, one hitting the woodwork, then on 33 minutes a pin point pass from Morgan Sellars split the Grimsby defence and Samson shot hard and low past the keeper making sure the sides went in level at half time.
The second half was end to end with both sides looking for a winner. It was Hallam though who looked as if they might take the points especially after Grimbsy were reduced to ten men following an off the ball incident spotted by the linesman.
Ismael Lammy and lively substitute Nick Owen were now starting to influence the game and had a shots well saved by the keeper.
Unfortunately they could not grab the vital goal but a positive first outing at Sandygate with the Hallam old boys from Shirebrook due back on Sunday afternoon for the FA Vase encounter.
