Not a Happy Return for Hallam

Posted 25th February 2012 - Posted in Match Reports

A dissapointing return to action for the Countrymen as they failed to gain ground on the teams above them. Hallam started slowly and were two goals down before they found any real pattern to their game however after a good move down the right Aaron Moxon forced in a shot off a defender to act as a catalyst for what was to be the team's best fifteen minute spell. After a penalty appeal was turned away Sam Eckhardt hit a rasping drive from 20 yards and although the keeper got behind the shot the ball span away and into the net for the equaliser. 2-2 at the interval and all to play for in the second period but  both teams struggled to find any rythem. In the final quarter one or two defensive slips by Hallam seemed to give Hemsworth some extra momentum and eventually they conceeded from a free kick which was no more than a speculative punt into the box. As Hallam tried to find an equaliser they were eventually caught on the break and a fine finish saw Hemsworth secure a 4-2 victory.
