Eckhardt hits the Spot

"Trick or Treat" - who knows with Hallam these days. After the horrors witnessed in the last outing against Yorkshire Ametuers hopefully dealt with and left behind it was time that the fans were treated to some fireworks of a footballing kind at Eccleshill. To be honest the Countrymen should have come home with all three points but were caught out again at the death.

It was the "Wizard" of Sandygate, Sam Eckhardt, who got the Countrymen off to a flying start with two expertly converted penalties in the 6th and 30th minutes leaving Hallam in the unusual position of going in 2-0 up at the break.

It was all looking very positive when the defensive errors that have plagued their season came back to haunt them with two goals from Vicktor Balis on 47 and 49 , Eccleshill were back in it , then they compounded an horrific 5 minute spell when Connor Shefte gave them the lead on 50.

Chris Sellars needed his players to produce some magic and to be fair they did just that with Jake Bradbury bringing them level on 68 then Sam Eckhardt completing his hat trick on 76 and the Countrymen looked to be coming home with the spoils.

Unfortunately it was not to be as Tyler Tarango ghosted in to equalise in the 90th minute to earn Eccleshill a draw however they had been given a fright by Hallam who need to continue to show this determination if they are to turn around their season.

Next week they welcome Shaw Lane who dropped off the top of the table yesterday so will be looking to put their own rocket under Hallam at Sandygate.
