Double Top for Hallam

Having run top team Bottesford so close last week the question on everyone's lips was could the Countrymen turn in a similar performance against second place Cleethropes.

It didn't take long to find out for after a blow for blow opeining ten minutes young Royle Johnson took the game by the scruff of its neck ,fought to win the ball back twice, then sent a stunning shot into the roof of the visitors goal. The game then took on a familiar pattern with Cleethorpes enjoying the majority of the play and Hallam looking dangerous on the break. Adam Seymour looked assured in the Hallam goal behind a defence which once again showed they can now live with the best strikers this division has to offer and with Andy Kokot winning everything in front of them in another man of the match perfromance, the vistors were visibley frustrated as they went in trailing 1-0 at the interval.

The second half was always going to be a seige at the Claremont End but Hallams back line held firm and again the Countrymen were throwing bodies  in front of every shot with Julian Lawrence a class above. As the game went on the ball was coming back all too quickly and Hallam were looking tired even after introducing three susbstitutes. Then with Carlton Dickenson and Joe Highfield clearly carrying injuries Cleethorpes made the pressure pay as they swung in a deep ball to the back post on 87 minutes and Luke Maskell was there to strike home an equaliser that appeared to come off his hand.

As the Countrymen looked to hold on for a valuable and deserved point they broke away one last time and as Liam Morris found Andy Kokot the midfielders effort was blocked by the keepers legs to keeping the scores level at 1-1 but extending their unbeaten run to four games.

Hallam now have two crucial games in the next 7 days with a home match with Louth on Tuesday night then away at Hemswoth next Saturday.
