What a week that was !

Wayne Thompson was left with the job of bringing the players together for the away trip to Hemsworth after the events earlier in the week which saw Chris Sellars step down from first team duties.
A nightmare opening 6 minutes saw Hallam 3-0 behind which was bad enough without a ridiculous penalty decision made by another inexperienced official. Hallam deserved to claw themselves back into this match with a Mark West penalty, a player who has battled injury this season and today showed what he has to offer, covering every blade of grass during the 90 minutes. Hallam should and could have had more but went in 3-1 down at the break.
The Countrymen were the best team during the second half but they just did not get the breaks in the final third yet the very first time Hemsworth got a shot on traget the ball hit the net with the keeper knowing he should have done better. Frustratingly the Countrymen responded almost immediately with Joe Highfield, on as a substitute after recovering from injury , hit his shot high and wide of the keeper to make it 4-2.
As Hallam pushed for further goals they went close through Morris and Highfield whilst Mark West appeared to be taken down from behind in the six yard box however in the dying minutes a long ball was uncharacteristically misjudged by an otherwise perfect Rob Adgie and Hemsworth reacted first to the keepers save and added to the misery. A disappointing end to a disappointing week but one that showed promise and commitment from a group of talented young players.
