Knock Out Day on the Town

As the Hallam team and their supporters arrived by coach at Runcorn for the first round propper of the FA Vase no-one really gave them a chance of proceeding given the lofty heights of the opposition currently sitting top of the North West Counties Premier League.

Things looked even worse for the Countrymen when Max Pemberston was red carded after 15 minutes however the ten men battled well to be level 0-0 at the interval.

The second half could not have started better with Scott Bates giving Hallam an unexpected lead on 47 Minutes. This appeard to rock the home side  but to their credit they drew level within 5 minutes with a Kevin Excell goal.

Then on 63 minutes James Reed hit a 30 yarder that was good enough to win any game at any level. The travelleing supporters were in heaven and even more so when the whistle blew for the end of the gane amd Hallam had won a famous victory.

Hallam will now play Morpeth Town at home on the 12th November in the 2nd Round.
