From the Chair

Posted 12th July 2017 - Posted in Chairman News

Well now the seasons over and the dust has settled I thought I would put together a few words on last season.

We were all obviously very disappointed not to make it past the play offs again after being even closer than last year.

Ryan, Steve and Stuart could not have worked harder nor done any more to achieve their goal than they did. Every single one of the players did the club proud in their efforts to not only get us promoted but play some very exciting football along the way. For this I would like to thank them all on behalf of everyone at the club.

Far too many highlights of a fantastic season to mention them all but for me Runcorn away in the F.A. Vase was an incredible day and it was so good to be able to give  all the club staff such a well-deserved day out, and the result ? Well just amazing wasn’t it? .As was the night!!!

I did all my thank you’s to our amazing team of volunteers, staff, players and managers at our presentation  night but once again thanks to all of you, again no volunteers-no club.

I would like to take this opportunity to thanks our sponsors without whom we wouldn’t be able to function in the way we do.Nicola at Spencers, kit sponsorship is fantastic; to see the lads in such top quality gear, makes a big difference. Thankyou Nicola.Paul Gosney from new sponsors City Taxis has been nothing short of amazing sorting out away travel in some style for us, so thanks Paul for everything.
Howard Wade at Cactus again sponsored kit for us, the U21 team looking good this season. Cheers Howard.

Whether you have sponsored a player, kit, management, or had a sign up at the ground I would like to thank you all so much, as I said without your support we aren’t “Hallam”, and I sincerely hope you will all be with us again next season. We have some very exciting new sponsors coming on board this season too, so watch this space! To all our sponsors thank you all so much on behalf of the club-no sponsors-no club.

Talking of support brings me on to our amazing fans. 31% up on last season, which I think was 50% up on the season before and fifth in both divisions for average attendance-amazing thank you all so much. Every £5 you spend at the gate, £1 on raffle and drinks, food in the bar are very, very much appreciated. I can’t talk of support without of course mentioning the Ultra’s can I ? Your vociferous support has made such a difference at so many games and we need you to all keep coming!  Again, no fans – no club.

So to sum up, whether you knocked in a nail, painted a wall, washed a kit, cleaned a dressing room, pulled on a shirt, picked the team, wrote a blog, did a tweet, looked after Facebook, updated the website, served a pasty, served a pint, came to support, wrote a team sheet, paid a fine, emptied a skip, paid an invoice, sold a raffle ticket, looked after ball boys, and well, yes the list, like your generosity is endless, so I’ll stop there. So, to all involved with this wonderful club, well done, stick with us, exciting times to come and here’s to finishing top or second next year !

Have a great summer!
