The Countrymen, alas, banished the ghost of Grimsby as they stole the win courtesy of a Gary Griffiths goal at a wet and blustery Sandygate.
Borough would be a stern test for Hallam, looking to preserve an unbeaten home run of five matches in the league - and the S10 boys were up and running in the second minute as Patrick Carrig smashed a drive into the top right corner from an acute angle to net on his debut.

And the Hosts doubled their lead as 'Skipper' James Reed turned nicely on a through ball to unleash his shot into the roof of the net.
Borough certainly had the better possession but couldn't turn this into clear cut chances as Hallam comfortably defended their lines.
As the second half began, the weather further deteriorated as a sheet of driving rain enveloped Sandygate Road, and conditions became near farcical.
These conditions seemed to favour Grimsby; however Danny State nearly wrapped up the game for Hallam as he found himself in a one on one scenario with Borough shotstopper Scott Drury but his shot hit the right hand upright.

The inevitable then happened as Grimsby hit back when  the ever dependable Adam Drury finished nicely from close range to half the host's deficit.
Now it was a totally different ball game as Hallam found themselves on the back foot, and when Daniel Trott found space to advance towards the Hallam box he pulled the trigger and sent a unstoppable effort past Archie Sneath.

This match suddenly became impossible to call as both sides went flat out in the presence of Storm Brian, looking to seek that winning goal. Both teams had chances and it looked very likely that Hallam could go on and lose this game despite been two goals to the good at one stage.

And to our delight, Griffiths popped up at the right time to steer the ball home after an ensuing goal mouth scramble to send the home faithful as wild as the weather.
Grimsby's misery was compounded further as sub Caine Winfarrar was given his marching orders for dissent in the final moments.

Hallam saw out added time to secure a really hard fought triumph and climb to ninth in the table as a consequence and relishing FC Bolsover's visit on Tuesday Evening (7.45 ko) hoping to carry on their rich vein of form at home.
