Yorkshire Amateur 1 ( Flynn pen 65) Hallam 1 ( Wood 56)
Hallam produced a resolute performance in West Yorkshire but were eventually outdone by an Amuers spot kick to deny the blue and white army all three points.
The opening blows were tight as neither side really looked to take the initiative.
Dave Darwent was the first goalkeeper to be called upon though as he had to be awares as Ash Flynn beared down but intercept the ball just in the nick of time from the feet of the Yorkshire Ammies Striker.
Hallam then caused The Amateur back-line problems as Chris Wood's cut back gave Will Saxon a chance to fire but his shot was comfortably dealt with by The hosts number one, Graham Mclachlan.
Saxon was then replaced by Danny State due to injury as Hallam forced their way back into a encounter they really could have done with winning. Sam Fewkes promising shot was then deflected safely to the keeper as the game stepped up a notch.
Just before the break, Darwent denied Flynn' s attempt with his legs as the teams went in goalless at the break.
The second period started with both teams level pegging in the possession department however drew first blood in the 56th minute as James Reed's devine cross was nodded back into the centre by Gary Griffiths and was met nicely by Wood on the volley, who finished with aplomb into the keepers' bottom left.
The lead only lasted nine minutes as the game was turned on its head as Flynn ran onto a sublime through ball by Thomas Marsden then was dragged back in the area by Connor Greaves when goalside. The man in the middle pointed to the spot and then subsequently sent off the visitors number two, which seemed a little harsh as Gary Griffiths seemed to be covering. Also it was slightly contentious whether the foul was committed inside the box but was difficult to define from the video footage. Nevertheless Flynn returned to his feet to duly dispatch the penalty and bring the Leeds outfit level. Billy Wright came on to replace scorer Wood as The Hallam managerial team looked to plug the gap left by the dismissed Greaves.
The game then opened up with the home side looking to make the extra man count and Fernando Moke nearly took advantage however his shot was blocked on the line and the resulting effort was also intercepted. The dangerous Flynn posed furthur questions as his long range drive thundered against Hallam' s right hand post. But Hallam could have stole the win themselves when sub Mark West found himself in space in the Ammuers box from a cracking Wright assist but could only fire a tame shot at Yorkshire's keeper' Graham Mclachlan.
So, it ended up all square at The Northerns stadium and so Hallam make a reappearance in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior cup on Tuesday against North Gawber, 745ko.
