Col Blimey!! Hallam undone at Sandygate

Posted 07th December 2017 - Posted in Match Reports

Hallam 2 ( West 37, Wood 65) North Gawber Col 3 ( Welford 40, 116 Elsworth 65)

A Carey Welford double was enough to see North Gawber progress as the ten men visitors victored after an additional 30 minutes of extra time at a cold S10

Hallam had opened the scoring after 37 minutes courtesy of a fantastic Mark Wood goal after dominating the opening phase of the game with many a chance coming and going mainly through Wood's dangerous advances. However The Countrymen were pegged back three minutes later as Welford drew North Gawbey level.
The Colls' had earlier been reduced to ten men but that didn't halt the light blue and clarets desire to gain the win at Sandygate.

Hallam once again struck their noses in front on 65 minutes as Chris Wood found the net but again Gawber came and forced an additional 30 minutes through a Lewis Elworth goal.
Both teams had the chances with penalty kicks looming but it was North Gawber who caused the upset of sorts and Welford bagged his brace with four minutes of extra time remaining to send Hallam tumbling out the competition.

It's an old cliche I know, but now HFC can concentrate on the league and kick-start our campaign after a recent stumble, at home to Afc Emley on Saturday, ko 3pm and also returning to playing at the world's oldest ground in our traditional blue and white.
