Back for 2018-19 is Getting to Know Your Countrymen. Glenn Poulton's first of the new season is with Alfie!
Tell us about yourself, name, age, school?
My name is Alfie I am 10 years old and live at Charnock with my Dad, Mum and two sisters. I go to Birley Primary Academy and play cricket for Hollinsend MCC.
How did you first come to know about Hallam FC?
The first I knew about Hallam FC was when my dad asked if I wanted to go and watch some non-league Football and go to the oldest football football ground in the world and then I read all the history of Hallam FC and liked the sound of it.
What was your first visit to Hallam FC?
My first visit to Sandygate was in September 2017 against Nostell when Hallam won 1-0.
Role at the club?
My role at the club is a supporter but I did help Glenn and Mark and my Dad with some painting in the changing rooms this summer which I really enjoyed. Also my Dad and I have sponsored Gaz Griffiths.
Favouite Hallam player?
Dave Darwent because not only is he the best player it is really great to talk to him after the games.
Favourite moment while following Hallam?
There’s been a few moments I’ve really enjoyed whilst watching Hallam, one being when my favourite Dave Darwent gave me his gloves after going to Armthorpe away but what I really enjoyed was the great game (apart from the result) against AFC Emley at home when the rain was pouring and the players were having to stab the goalmouth with the corner flags to drain it. I’ve never seen that happen at Bramall Lane.
Favourite away ground and why?
My favourite away ground I’ve been to whilst watching Hallam is Rossington Main (twice). The reason being that one of the times we went I was talking to one of their committee members who was giving me good information and also gave me some sweets. Everyone was very friendly even though I had my Hallam shirt on. They also do the best sausage roll I’ve ever had (sorry Ann!)
Favourite item from Ann's cabin?
Again it has to be sausage roll!
How many layers do you wear at Sandygate on a Tuesday night in January?
I can remember wearing 4/5 layers on my upper body and I was still cold. I will be wearing more this season!
Where do you think Hallam will finish this season?
I think Hallam will finish in the top 5 this season but I’m hoping they will win the league.
Wednesday, United or other?
Sheffield United and Yorkshire CC.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Hallam is a very good and friendly club and I hope more people come and watch them as they deserve a lot of fans.
Thanks to Alfie and if you would like to get involved please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
