Posted 04th November 2012 - Posted in Club News 2012 Celebration of Sport Service

The Celebration of Sport service is now in it's third year and has much to give thanks for especially in this year of the Olympic and ParaOlympic games which has given so many people a boost.

This year's celebration will include a speach from Sheffield Wednesday Manager, Dave Jones as well as footballing mad Bishop of Grantham Rt.Revd Tim Ellis and an interview with GB Volleyball Director of Performance Kenny Barton on what it took to get the GB Volleyball team to the Games.Representatives from a number of local sporting clubs including Hallam FC will be in attendance and take part in the service too.

There is a Marketplace where clubs and organisations will have displays telling of their involvement in the community through sport and in the past these have included SWFC, SUFC and Sheffield University to name a few.

Our own Reverend Peter Allan says " It is my hope to make this a real celebration of sport in gathering people together from across the sporting spectrum. In this year of the games we have been reminded of the positive contribution sport  makes to the lives of so many people.I believe that we in Sheffield and the surrounding area really do have something to come together and give genuine thanks for."

If you are able to attend then just turn up at the Cathedral on the night and make it a celebration to remember.
